Ken and I have an understanding that he doesn't bring me roses on Valentine's Day. On occasion, he has brought me flowers for this holiday, but I always hope it isn't roses ... as much as I love them! On other occasions, I beat him to the draw and buy flowers myself a few days ahead.
Valentine's Day is a great excuse to do a few little festive things around the house to "celebrate". I showed you this flower arrangement a couple of years ago, but I love it so much that I thought we'd do Valentine's Day old-school today!
All you need is two vases that will fit one inside the other (ones with straight sides are the easiest to use), some jelly beans in whatever color you like (or conversation hearts, or red hot cinnamons, or whatever candy you prefer), and a bunch of flowers. I chose to use tulips.
Put the smaller vase inside the larger one ...
... fill the space between them with the candies ...
... cut the stems of the flowers to fit the inner vase ...
... gently pour water in the center of the flowers, being careful not to get the candies wet ...
Et voila! A nice floral piece for your table, or dresser, or front entry way.
Happy Valentine's Day!
