It's been a while since I posted a "things that make you go 'hmm'" post. Maybe I haven't been going "hmmm" on subjects that I felt free to share about ... or more accurately, maybe I haven't gone "hmmm" in a while.
So for today, here's my "Hmmm's":
As a parent, do you ever wonder what the heck you are doing with your kids? Or if you doing it right? Are you even thinking about what you're doing? I will admit that parenting is the hardest job I could ever imagine doing and I have no dollar sign paycheck to prove my worth in its endeavor. Moment by moment, I am thinking about how to handle any given situation, any given child's response, and any given response of my own towards them. This article about French parenting was not only enlightening, but also affirming in many of the choices I've made as a parent. Not that has much to do with being French ... but more with being about what our expectations are of children's behavior.
I love the color turqoise. I found a blog House of Turqoise a few months ago and am totally enamored. Be still my heart.
One these romantic days, Ken and I will lock our love forever onto the Pont des Arts in Paris.
[In 2010, the city vowed to remove over 2,000 padlocks which they felt defaced the monument. Almost overnight, all the locks were stripped but the city's success at restoring the "purity" of the tourist site was short-lived. Aly's birthday is this weekend. She'll be 27 ... I mean, 17! 17, she'll be. Yes, 17. NOT 27!! Oooh ... sorry 'bout that! 17 ... yes. And this is the cake she wants for her celebration...
... only in blue. So guess what I'll be doing the next couple of days. Yep, baking. and frosting. and hosting. And loving all of it.
I just found a blog of a cook in Sens. I lived in Sens as a child and my dad had a market booth just beside l'Elglise St. Etienne, the first Gothic cathedral built in France. Sens is a city just south of Paris and I'm interested in what this blogger is doing. As far as I know she cooks "regular" food (AKA not just French food) and posts fabulous photos of her food. All of the above are compelling enough to keep me following her. :)
OK ... I think five things is enough to keep me "hmm-ing" for a bit, non? What about you? What is interesting you these days? Are you looking for something special? Are you following certain trends? Where do you find new inspiration?
